How to Sign Up for Classes:
Pre-registration required. - Beginning February 11, 2008, you may register in person at the Peters Township Community Recreation Center (700 Meredith Drive, Venetia, PA 15367, phone number 724-942-5000). To print a registration form for mailing, go to www.peterstownship.com. Select Township Departments, Parks and Recreation, Programs.

Dates: Saturday, April 19th and Saturday, April 26th
Time: 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Fee: $20.00 for residents, $30.00 for non-residents. Limit one handler per dog. Dogs must be 3 months or older. Handlers must be 16 years of age or older. No observers, please.
Location: Peterswood Park Amphitheater.

“Walking the Dog!” Course Description: Do you walk your dog, or does your dog walk you?! This mini-course will teach you how to actually enjoy a walk with your dog. Let us teach you the techniques you need to become the leader instead the follower! Bring comfortable shoes, a chair, a leash (no retractable leads, please), some treats, and rain gear if necessary.
 

PUPPY/DOG BASIC OBEDIENCE TRAINING
Starting May 8 2008 Thursday 6:30-7:30 PM

This class will help you start your puppy or dog off on the right foot! Learn about behavior and safety within the home, work on accepting strangers and teach your new puppy to pay attention to you with distractions. Skills that we will work on will be sit, down, stay, come and leash/walking..manners. Puppies must be 12 weeks of age. We will teach you to think from the dog's perspective. Gentle style training. 6 weeks-one hour No dogs the first week. 10 students accepted No aggressive dogs

Fee: $80.00 resident/$120.00non-resident .

There is a $30 fee to audit the course. Sorry, no children under 16 years of age are allowed to attend sessions.

THE PATH TO THE DOG SHOW WORLD
Starting May 8 2008 Thursday 7:45-9:00 PM
 
This class is an introduction to the dog show world. We will teach you how to get into the winner's circle. Open to anyone who wants to learn "what it takes" to combine this visual sport and relationship with your best friend.

Learn about breed standards, movement, grooming and handling in the ring...Incorporating socialization, commands and becoming a winning team. The dog you learn with need not be a purebred.

6 weeks-one hour/fifteen minutes. No dogs the first week. 10 students accepted. No aggressive dogs Fee: $70.00 for resident/$105.00 non-resident

AKC CANINE GOOD CITIZEN CLASS
Starting July 10, 2008 7:45-8:45 PM

This is one of the most renowned classes to attend..created to have a safe and happy dog that will become a responsible and trustworthy part of the community. You will be trained with your dog to understand and pass the CGC -10 part standardized test. This course incorporates a specific plan that breaks down each test compulsory into basic obedience. You must have completed a basic obedience course to enter this class. This class is helpful for anyone working towards their Companion Dog title or avoid home-owners insurance problems.

6 weeks One hour No dogs first class No aggressive dogs 10 students accepted Cost $80.00 resident/$120.00 non-resident

Please note: No aggressive dogs. Handlers over 16 years of age. Positions open for auditing the course $30.00
